Hürth/Kalscheuren – Koblenz
The complete renovation of the line from Cologne via Bonn to Koblenz plays a key role in connecting North Rhine-Westphalia to southern Germany. As part of this project, modern interlockings are being installed in the area from Cologne to Remagen. The planned BSO in Bonn will then ensure operation.

The complete renovation of the line from Cologne via Bonn to Koblenz is an important transport axis between the Cologne metropolitan region and southern Germany. Due to its strategic location and high significance, the renewal and expansion of the infrastructure along this corridor is of great relevance.
Digitale Schiene Deutschland is responsible for the construction of the new interlocking infrastructure as part of the general renovation of the section between Hürth/Kalscheuren near Cologne and Bonn. The LST layout standards, which specify and describe the equipment for the general renovation, will be reviewed during the installation process and integrated where possible.
The project begins in Hürth/Kalscheuren on line 2630 in the direction of Koblenz and equips the section of the line up to the Bonn Neuer Weg operating point. Specifically, this will take place in the areas of the Brühl, Sechtem/Roisdorf, and Bonn Hbf interlockings. The area in question is approximately 30 km long.
The existing old interlockings will be replaced by three modern interlockings in Brühl, Sechtem/Roisdorf, and Bonn. Further infrastructural measures, such as new point machines, will be implemented in further projects as part of the general renovation of corridor. In the future, the interlockings are to be operated from the operational center in Bonn.
