General overhauls from Cologne via Bonn to Remagen and on to Koblenz play a key role in connecting NRW to southern Germany. As part of this project, modern interlockings will be realised in the area from Cologne to Remagen. The planned BSO in Bonn will subsequently ensure the service.

The General overhauls from Cologne via Bonn to Remagen and on to Koblenz is an important corridor between the Cologne metropolitan region and southern Germany. Due to its strategic location and great importance, the renewal and expansion of the infrastructure along this corridor is of great relevance.
Digitale Schiene Deutschland is responsible for the new construction of the interlocking infrastructure on the Hürth/Kalscheuren section near Cologne to Bonn as part of the General overhauls. In this project, equipment is being installed between Brühl and the Bonn Neuer Weg operating centre. The LST layout standards, which specify and describe the equipment for the General overhauls, will be checked during the course of the equipment and integrated where possible.
The project begins in Brühl on route 2630 in the direction of Koblenz and equips the section of line up to the Bonn Neuer Weg operating centre. In particular, this will take place in the areas of the Brühl, Sechtem/Roisdorf and Bonn Hbf interlockings. The area in question has 37 kilometres of track.
The existing old interlockings will be replaced by three modern interlockings in Brühl, Sechtem/Roisdorf and Bonn. Further infrastructural measures, such as new points, will be realised in other projects as part of the General overhauls. In future, the interlockings will be operated from the Bonn operational centre.
