Technical site (TSO) Darmstadt: Germany's first call-off from DB InfraGO AG's TSO framework agreement
DB InfraGO AG's operations management strategy continues to gather pace. The commissioning of the realisation of the TSO Darmstadt represents a further step. As the first TSO to be called up from a newly concluded framework agreement, this project sets standards in modular construction and sustainable infrastructure development.
With its operations control strategy, DB InfraGO AG is planning to set up operating centres (BSO) and technical sites (TSO) throughout Germany. The current operations centres (BZ) are to be successively relocated to the BSOs, while the central components of the modern interlocking technology will be built in the TSOs.
A Germany-wide framework contract for the construction of all TSOs was awarded specifically for the realisation of the TSO building construction. As a result, the TSO Darmstadt will be built on schedule by Goldbeck.
The concrete implementation of this forward-looking concept began with the call-off on 28 May 2025. The TSO Darmstadt, which is being realised as part of the Corridor Rhine-Alpine project, marks the beginning.

"With this step, the implementation of the operations management strategy is progressing," says Klaus Müller, Member of the Management Board for Infrastructure and Communication Technology at DB InfraGO AG.

The project manager of the Corridor Rhine-Alpine project, Ulrich Kohlenberger, is also enthusiastic:
"We are delighted to be realising the first TSO as part of the Corridor Rhine-Alpine project. We are thus laying the foundation for all subsequent control and safety technology projects on the corridor. "
Goldbeck is responsible for the execution planning and the construction of the building. The special feature: The buildings will be constructed from standardised, resource-conserving precast concrete parts, which will be manufactured in factories in the immediate vicinity of the TSO site and assembled on site. This modular construction method enables efficient, fast and sustainable realisation.
Cigdem Callioglu-Goncalves, sub-project manager for TSO and BSO in the Corridor Rhine-Alpine project, and Steffen Heinz, project manager for TSO Darmstadt, are looking to the future with excitement.

"We have reached an important milestone in the realisation of the TSO Darmstadt. We are looking forward to working together with Goldbeck."
Preparations for the start of construction are in full swing: all official authorisations have been obtained and coordination with the city of Darmstadt and specialist trades such as media supply, fire protection and traffic planning has been successfully completed. The critical infrastructure requirements have also been clarified, meaning that site clearance is already in full swing. The site, located to the north of Darmstadt's main railway station, is currently still being used in part by regional maintenance services - close coordination between all parties involved is essential here. The project team is continuing to work with great commitment to realise the start of construction in September 2025.
With the construction of the TSO Darmstadt, the digitalisation of DB InfraGO AG's infrastructure is making further progress. In future, TSOs will be the central elements of digital control and signalling technology.
